Initiators
Echobeach began in Januari 2025 as a discussion between artists on Instagram and Facebook after Ron van der Ende had asked: “Why don’t we start our own Pixelfed server especially for Dutch professional artists?”. From the people that responded a committee was formedto duscuss how to go about this. The original team were: Claudia Borges, Ron van der Ende, Vasilis van Gemert, Sibe Kokke, Anne Kolbe, Rob Moonen, Harco Rutgers and Pim Vlug.
Foundation echobeach
We are busy setting up foundation echobeach. The organization will own the project. The board will initially consist of Liesbeth Bik (chair), Suzanne Janse (secretary), Jeff van Hoek (treasurer), Xandra Nibbeling en Ron van der Ende (founder). The organisation will entail a number of working groups, each with a specific task like onboarding, moderatie, technical development and publicity.

The server is now open for curated sign-up. A proper launch will follow somewhere in 2026. If you are interested to join this effort go to echobeach.nl and hit sign-up. Our platform is open to professional artists that live in (or have a connection with) The Netherlands. A request needs to be approved by a commission of 5 artists. They will also check the candidate against the server rules (see https://echobeach.nl ; Server Rules)
A dedicated social platform for all Dutch artists. We demand our own place on the open internet, for ourselves and other communities.
